ARCHITECTURE MARKETING 360: CASE STUDY #8
Catherine Baudet
Catherine Baudet, who provides Independent architecture advisory services in Brisbane, Australia, completed Architecture Marketing 360 in mid-2022.
Catherine provided feedback about what she found useful and valuable, what could be improved in future, and how her knowledge about marketing evolved as she took the course.
I’m grateful for her feedback, which has been lightly edited here.
Overall, Catherine rated the course 5 out of 5 stars, and said that she especially enjoyed the Zoom Q&A sessions; she would have liked even more of those (we now offer monthly Zoom calls for everyone who has ever taken the course!).
You can find more details about Catherine’s experience of completing the Architecture Marketing 360 CPD course below, and visit her website here.
“I looked at a few other marketing courses and felt that Rachel knew ‘architects’.
I had also dealt with her before and found her to be authentic and interested. I had trust in her.”
— Catherine Baudet, Australia, 2022
1. How were you feeling about your practice marketing before and after taking the AM360 course?
Before: I was feeling like I had to act!
After: More confident - I will revisit the course material of course and try to implement.
2. Did you have any initial hesitations about committing to the AM360 course? If yes, please describe them.
If I was concerned about anything, it was the digital aspect, how difficult I would find that, and how much assistance I would get with content required to implement the marking plan.
3. What helped you to overcome those concerns and decide to enrol?
I looked at a few other marketing courses and felt that Rachel knew "architects". I had also dealt with her before and found her to be authentic and interested. I had trust in her.
4. How satisfied were you overall with the AM360 course?
5 out of 5 stars
5. In relation to the course delivery, were you happy with the 3-week duration?
The 3-week course duration worked well for my learning needs.
6. In relation to the course content, what were the main marketing topics or problems you wanted to learn more about in the course?
More about website and social media.
7. Did the course address those topics or concerns in sufficient detail for you?
Yes and no. I feel I still need more time to get on top of this.
8. If not, please provide additional information about what was lacking in the course content?
I still don't know how to set up Google analytics, and changing my Instagram account to a business account.
I would like to understand the workings of SEO and how you do H1 and H2. I think I need more time on these areas.
9. Did you find the suite of materials suited your learning needs? Please provide details, including any suggestions for improvements in future iterations.
Yes, I liked the format, but the access to the course was not intuitive. I could not listen to the video as the sound on my PC was not good enough, so I read the transcript (so good to have that!).
It also confused me with the "Next Lesson" button. At first, I thought I was moving onto the next day and so did not complete the task, but found I got a bit behind! Maybe just "next" would have made more sense to me and then "Next Lesson" when it was actually the next lesson. Minor detail however.
10. Did you find the Facebook group and live Zoom sessions useful to gain additional support?
I found the Zoom meetings better than Facebook - I would have liked more Zoom time.
11. In relation to Rachael's presentation style, do you have any suggestions or recommendations for future improvements?
Rachael does this exceptionally well.
12. This course is based on my six-channel architecture marketing system - summarised as RESPAW. Are you likely to implement this customer-focussed marketing approach?
Yes - I think my marketing will need to focus on LinkedIn articles, face to face presentations and emails.
13. Which of the 9 course topics did you find most beneficial?
N/A
14. Were the Website Review sessions helpful - including an overview of website metrics and performance, and reviews of participants' websites?
Yes - would have liked a few more!
15. Which architecture marketing topics would you like to learn more about in future?
How to create a lead magnet and the automated emails to deliver it;
How to improve my website's visibility and appeal to future customers;
How to create a media kit and pitch my stories to publications;
How to create a referral feedback loop to appeal to future clients;
16. Have you already implemented - or do you plan to implement - some of the marketing ideas and concepts from AM360 in your practice?
Yes, I have already implemented some ideas and concepts
Yes, I plan to start implementation in the next month or so
Yes, I plan to implement, but not straight away
No, I need more time to digest the materials before I think about implementation
No, I didn't find any of the ideas useful, so I won't be implementing them
17. Would you recommend the AM360 course to other architects and designers? Why or why not?
Yes - I think you have created a simple methodology.
18. Did you think the course was good value for money?
Yes, it was very good value for money.
19. Do you think the allocation of 6 Formal CPD points is commensurate with the training? If not, should the course be worth more or fewer CPD points?
I thought 6 points was great.
20. Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience, the course delivery, materials, the presenter, or suggestions for future iterations?
Rachael "gets" architecture and architects. You don't come across this often. She understands the whole culture and her advice is very good.
